How to restore files or a folder from a backup

How-to Backups and storage restorefilesbackupsnapshotdownload

Browse a snapshot, restore files next to the original or over them, or download a .tar.gz of the snapshot.

The node backs up every account. What you can see and restore yourself depends on your backup plan: the days of history you can reach (0 is no limit). Without a plan the page says so and you ask your provider.

Steps

  1. Open Backups, Restore and choose a snapshot.
  2. Browse and select the files or folders. The listing is limited per folder, so go into the folder you need.
  3. Choose next to the original (default: files appear in a new folder in your home, nothing is overwritten) or over the original.
  4. Start the restore. It is refused if it would not fit in your disk quota.
  5. Check the files. Ownership is set to your account and links you planted are never followed.

Download instead

Choose Download to build a .tar.gz of a snapshot. The panel prepares it in the background, it expires, and only one is prepared at a time per account.

Back up right now

Back up now is allowed with a wait of one hour between manual runs.
