How to create a MariaDB or PostgreSQL database and user

How-to Databases mariadbmysqlpostgresqldatabasephpmyadmin

Create a database, create a user, grant access, and open phpMyAdmin or phpPgAdmin from the panel with one click.

Names are <client>_<name>: the panel adds the <client>_ prefix for you.

Steps

  1. Open Databases and choose the engine, MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
  2. Create the database with a name.
  3. Create a database user and set its password.
  4. Grant the user access to the database. A user can be granted several databases; the database user never gets global privileges and cannot grant access to anyone else.
  5. Put the full names (acme_shop, acme_shopuser), the password and the host localhost in your application's configuration.
  6. To browse the data, open phpMyAdmin or phpPgAdmin from the panel. They open already signed in and are never reachable on a public URL.

Notes

  • The number of databases is capped by your plan.
  • Support staff can open a database with a temporary identity that expires after 30 minutes; your real password is never shown to them.
  • To connect from another machine see remote database access.
